The speed with whichthe internet reacts to the red carpet in 2016 can make actresses scared of taking fashion risks, andtake refuge from online critics insafe, but bland, gowns. On the Baftas red carpet there was one star laughing at the"no print, no colour" norm:23-year-old red carpet newbieBel Powley.

The young British actress was a rainbow in human form at theBaftas on Sunday evening, wearing a striped metallic Gucci gown with spindly spaghetti straps and a tightly-pleated skirts. She then added extra disco withstacked silver Gucci platforms.

Her stylist Cher Coulter said to The Telegraph about her fearless approach to the red carpet:"She is young and cool and she"s the perfect person to spice up the red carpet a bit. That"s what we need. The reason I love working with her, is because she"s willing to take risks and she"s not scared."

And her risk-taking doesn"t just stop at the dress:"She likes accessories - when she tries on a Gucci outfitshe likes putting on the flowers, and the badges, and the rings, and embraces what is brilliant about his [Gucci"s creative directorAlessandro Michele"s]collection and his aesthetic, whereas other people might be terrified to really go there and she"s not.She wore the really stacked shoes at the Baftas, and justwent for it."

Bel embarked on her first press tour in July 2015 for Diary of a Teenage Girland has already found a friend in Gucci. Her stylist, who also works with Rosie Huntington Whiteley, tells The Telegraph about her relationship with Gucci:"I"ve only just started working with Bel.I think her and Gucci are the perfect match of brand and celebrity.Gucciis the it label right now anyway, but she is the perfect girl for them;theirclothes fit like a glove as if they are madefor her body."

The Baftas was Bel"sfirst awards show, and Cher explains how the approach is different with a red carpet "fresher":"It"s exciting because it"s unpredictable, and if you work with someone from the beginning you can help nurture that. It"s harder to start working with someone when they are three years into a red carpet routine and you have to try and change it.It"s very difficult for someone to go from wearing simple tight dresses by one designer to try and work with new designers to change their look.It takes a minute."

As for what we can expect from Bel"s future on the red carpet, Cher says:"You don"t want to predict it but it"s going to be fun and fashion, without looking ridiculous, because we all know on the red carpet you are seen from every angle and you still want to look flattering. You"re not going to turn up in a sack, and if it"s a sack, it"s a short sack to show off your legs.I think she"ll stick toliveliness, print, colour, texture."

This certainly isn"t the last time we"ll see Bel rocking Gucci, but as for other labels Cher says they are drawn to "richer collections with depth" including Chanel, Sonia Rykiel, Rochas and Giambattista Valli.
