JENNY LAUREN has been fined €2,000 for her drunken rant during a flight from Barcelona to New York. The niece of Ralph Lauren caused the flight to make an emergency stop in Shannon, Ireland, where she was forced to stay in a cell at the airport overnight.

Lauren, a jewellery designer based in New York, pleaded guilty to two of the drunk and disorderly charges.A court heard yesterday that she swore and insulted two air hostesses, and reportedly pinned one of the stewards against the aircraft wall. The total cost of the incident - which took place on Monday - allegedly came to €30,208.The outburst came after Lauren was unable to recline in her seat, and became aggravated by a hostess offering her assistance.

The court heard how Lauren was "extremely embarrassed and extremely upset" by the incident.Judge Patrick Durcan - who was informed that the designer was upset over the Christmas period, having lost her mother to cancer in October 2008 - said that the tirade was caused by intoxication, the Irish Independent reports.
