Beatrice Borromeo was on holiday in Mallorca last week, watchinghusband Pierre Casiraghi compete in a sailing tournament.Wearing denim shorts and a classic white shirt, her outfit was an example of her easy, chic vacation style and piqued the interest of fashion fans around the world.

For the uninitiated, Borromeo (who turns 32 next week) is a political journalist, documentarian and the wife of Pierre Casiraghi, the younger son of Caroline, Princess of Hanover and grandson of the late Grace Kelly. Her own, Italian family is also noble - her parents being the Count of Arona, Don Carlo Ferdinando of the ancient aristocratic house Borromeo, and Countess Donna Paola Marzotto.

You could probably say that her style credentials were secured at birth (her uncle, Count Matteo Marzotto, is also the former president of fashion house Valentino) but it has really been in the last few years that she???s honed a polished, modern and only slightly regal dress sense all of her own.

"Don"t make me like a little princess, please," Borromeo asked a stylist on a photoshoot for Glamour last year, after he tried to put a tiara on her head."It would really depress me."Yes, Beatrice will don a ballgown, or a dress coat and nude courts for a society wedding, much like the best of the royals. But the difference is that hers are exclusive pieces by Valentino, Armani Prive, or Chanel, and she adds a streak of personality with bold accessories from cool young labels like the Muzungu Sisters.

At the couple???s stunning July 2015 wedding, she wore four couture dresses - two by Valentino for her civil service in Monaco and two by Armani Priv?? for a religious service in Italy"s Lake Maggiore.

On the flip side, she???s also been dubbed the ???Real Girl Royal??? thanks to her off-duty uniform; jeans, trainers and t-shirts.As a new mum (her first child, Stefano Ercole Carlo Casiraghi, was born on 28th February 2017) it???s unlikely that she???ll be revising those principles any time soon.???I remember when I first started dating my husband, he was like, "Do you not have a dress? Are you a girl, or what?" she told Glamour.

At work, she says, her uniform is similarly practical.???If I"m interviewing someone in the government, I"m going to be more formal: a jacket, a shirt, pants. But if I go see refugees in the field, I"m not going to care what I wear,??? she has said.

Refreshingly, Borromeo has also been honest about the number of new dresses that are required of women in royal families for state occasions, suggesting that she borrows dresses from Valentino and Armani because she ???couldn"t afford to buy as many dresses as I need for public functions!???

???I"m a reporter, and I have the salary of a reporter,??? she told Glamour.???I"m not going to put half of my salary into a pair of shoes.I did it a few times in my life, and it doesn"t feel right. You can wear Zara and nothing bad is going to happen to you.???
